Bike Rental in Delhi

Delhi has the biggest bike-rental market in northern India, and most of it is aimed at riders heading to Ladakh, Spiti or Manali. If your trip is Rishikesh and the Uttarakhand hills, you have two sensible options: rent in Delhi and ride out, or take a train or bus and rent on arrival. This page covers both.

Rishikesh is about 240 km from Delhi, 5 to 6 hours by road. If the trip is Rishikesh and the Uttarakhand hills, our bike rental in Rishikesh is the shop to compare against.

Bike Rental Shops in Delhi

Most tourist-facing shops cluster around Paharganj, next to New Delhi railway station, and Karol Bagh. A second group sits in Gurugram, which suits you if you are staying in Cyber City or Sohna Road.

What to Ask Before You Rent

Riding from Delhi to Rishikesh

Rishikesh is about 240 km from central Delhi, a 5 to 6 hour ride with breaks. The usual line is out through Ghaziabad and Meerut, then Muzaffarnagar, Roorkee and Haridwar, with Rishikesh 25 km past Haridwar. Leave before 6 am: the first hour out of Delhi is the slow part, and the road past Muzaffarnagar has heavy truck traffic by mid-morning.

Two-wheelers are not allowed on the Delhi–Meerut Expressway, so plan on the older road through Ghaziabad. Check the signage at the entrance rather than trusting a map app.

Before you take any rental out of the city, ask the shop in writing whether outstation and out-of-state riding is allowed, and whether the plate and insurance cover Uttarakhand. Many city shops price outstation days differently or require a larger deposit, and you will be riding the same bike back to Delhi.

Or Rent in Rishikesh Instead

For a trip that is mostly in the hills, the simpler plan is to leave the riding to the mountains. Trains and buses run from Delhi to Haridwar all day, and Haridwar is 25 km from Rishikesh. You skip the highway day, pay for one bike instead of a round trip, and collect a bike that is already set up for Uttarakhand.

We rent from Ram Jhula in Rishikesh with commercial taxi-series plates, which are legal for self-drive across the state, and we deliver free at the Rishikesh railway station and bus stand. Delivery in Haridwar is also available.

Coming from further out? We also deliver in Haridwar and Dehradun and Jolly Grant airport.

FAQs

Can I ride a Delhi-rented bike to Rishikesh?

Often yes, but it depends on the shop. Ask whether outstation and out-of-state riding is allowed, whether insurance covers Uttarakhand, and whether the deposit or daily rate changes. Get the answer in writing before you pay.

How long does it take to ride from Delhi to Rishikesh?

About 5 to 6 hours for roughly 240 km, including stops. Leave early to clear Delhi and Ghaziabad before traffic builds.

Is it cheaper to rent in Delhi or in Rishikesh?

If your trip is in the hills, renting in Rishikesh is usually cheaper overall. You pay for the days you actually ride in Uttarakhand, not for a highway day each way, and you do not have to ride the same bike back to Delhi.
