The short answer: on Anubhav Travel rafting trips, participants must be between 14 and 60 years old and in good health, with no heart or lung problems. You do not need to be able to swim. Rules differ between operators and routes, so always ask the company you are booking with.

Age limit for river rafting in Rishikesh

  • Minimum age on our trips: 14. We do not take children under 14 on the river.
  • Maximum age on our trips: 60.
  • Health: you must be healthy. If you have a heart or lung condition we cannot take you, and for any other medical condition, tell us before you pay so we can say honestly whether the trip suits you.

Other operators may publish different limits, for example a lower minimum age on a calm stretch. We can only speak for our own trips, and we would rather turn a booking down than put someone on a route that is wrong for them.

Can kids do river rafting in Rishikesh?

Children aged 14 and over can join our trips if they are healthy. For a family with younger children, the river is not an option with us. Our family rafting guide explains how to plan around that, for example with teenagers rafting while younger children and a parent stay with other activities.

Is there a weight or height limit?

We do not publish a single weight or height cut-off. What matters is that the life jacket and helmet fit properly and that your guide can balance the raft. When you enquire, please give:

  • your age and the age of everyone in the group,
  • approximate weight and height,
  • any injury, back, neck, heart, lung or other medical issue, and whether anyone is pregnant.

We will confirm in writing whether the trip suits you. Being very light, very heavy or very tall does not automatically rule you out, but we need to know before the day.

What if I cannot swim?

Swimming is not required on our trips. Life jackets and helmets are provided and checked, and the guide gives a safety briefing before you start. Read more in our guide for non-swimmers.

Who should not go rafting?

Please do not book if you have a heart or lung problem, are outside the 14–60 age range, are recovering from an injury, or are pregnant. If you are not sure, ask first. You will also fill in a consent (no-claim) form before the trip.

How to book

Send the group’s ages and numbers on the rafting page or read the step-by-step booking guide.
