Waterfalls Near Rishikesh Worth the Ride

You don't need a big trip to get a good ride out of Rishikesh — a handful of waterfalls sit close enough for a half-day out and back, and they're a good way to test a rented bike before committing to something longer.

Neer Garh Waterfall

The closest and most popular option, a short climb past Laxman Jhula followed by a walk in through forest to reach the falls. It's an easy half-day trip and a good first ride if you've just picked up a scooty or bike and want to get a feel for it before going further afield. There's a small entry area with basic food stalls near the base.

Best time to go

Post-monsoon through winter — September to March — gives you the fullest flow with clearer approach paths. The waterfall runs year-round, but during peak summer the flow thins noticeably, and during the monsoon itself the approach trails can be slippery and the water considerably more powerful and dangerous to get close to.

Riding there

From Ram Jhula or Laxman Jhula, it's a short ride — well within reach of any of our bikes, including the Activa. Go in the morning if you want fewer crowds; by midday on weekends the approach path and the pools near the base get genuinely busy.

Practical notes

• Wear shoes with actual grip — the rocks near the falls are slick even when they look dry.
• Don't swim directly under the falls after heavy rain; the current is stronger than it looks.
• Carry cash for the entry fee and food stalls — card payment isn't reliable this far out.
• Combine it with a loop through Tapovan on the way back for a fuller half-day out.
