Bike on Rent for Nainital
Rishikesh to Nainital: 280 km, 7–8 hours. Mostly highway, and the easiest long ride we rent for.
The route: Rishikesh → Haridwar (25) → Najibabad (95) → Kashipur (185) → Kaladhungi (245) → Nainital (280). Plains and highway most of the way, with the climb only in the last 35 km.
Which bike: this is the one route where the Classic 350 or Guerrilla 450 beats the Himalayan. It's highway riding — you want comfort and cruising ability rather than ground clearance. The Guerrilla is the more enjoyable bike; the Classic is the more comfortable one.
Realistic timing: two days minimum, three to enjoy it. Extend to Bhimtal, Sattal, Mukteshwar or Kausani — Kumaon is worth more than a night.
Road conditions: good throughout. Highway traffic rather than mountain hazard, which brings its own risks — trucks, overtaking, and long straight stretches where fatigue creeps up.
Permits: none.
Fuel and ATMs: plentiful the whole way. This is the least logistically demanding route we rent for.
Season: year-round. Avoid peak summer weekends when Nainital is extremely crowded, and note that Kumaon gets heavy fog December–January.
The honest note: this is a plains-and-highway ride, not a Himalayan one. It's a lovely trip and a good first multi-day rental, but if you're after mountain riding, Chopta at 200 km gives you far more of it than Nainital at 280.
